The Intercollegiate Athletics Chief Financial Officer (Athletics CFO) has a dual reporting role, reporting to both the Campus/Central Finance as well as the Athletics executives. Who You Are As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be a key member of our accounting team, responsible for performing period-end close functions including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. In addition, you will be responsible for technical accounting areas such as accounts receivable, grants, revenue, internal controls, and financial reporting. As the Company grows, this role will partner with the Accounting Manager and Controller to develop and improve the Company's internal controls, policies and procedures. Responsibilities and Duties • Perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, • Support the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors, providing audit support, and addressing questions or concerns during the audit process, • Grants: Maintain grant tracking schedules, record grant-related journal entries, and assess accounting implications of grant activities based on US GAAP (e.g., recording revenue and receivable entries, tracking aging of grant receivables, and creating invoices, etc.), • Accounts Receivable: collaborate effectively with the sales operations team, providing essential financial and tax-related support throughout the sales cycle including quotations, sales order confirmations and invoicing, • Oversee various key balance sheet accounts such as revenue, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities, • Perform independent research and draft technical accounting memos on various complex accounting issues (e.g., revenue recognition from contracts with customers under ASC 606, etc.), • Develop, refine and document business processes and accounting procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls, • Prepare financial reports for monthly and quarterly meetings with management and the company's Board of Directors, • Support and assist junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills, • Perform other job related duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned such as various regulatory tax filingsKnowledge and Skill Requirements, • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience, including a combination of public accounting and shown experience in a large, multinational manufacturing company, • CPA highly preferred, • Extensive experience with technical accounting research and GAAP reporting, • Experience with mid to large-scale ERP systems preferred in a manufacturing environment (Sage X3,Coupa), • Proficient with Google Apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets), • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, • Ability to work collaboratively with team members across departments, contributing to a positive team environmentPhysical Demands and Working Conditions, • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time, • Reach low shelves or items on the floor The starting base pay for this role is between $105,000 and $123,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills.
