Job Description Electrical Service Manager – Commercial Electrical Service Lighting Maintenance, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Service Manager to lead our Commercial Electrical Service Department in Harmans, Maryland. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing service work from the initial customer request through estimating, execution, project closeout, and final invoicing. The two primary focuses of this position are estimating/project management and customer service/communication. The department is supported by a dedicated Service Coordinator who manages scheduling, dispatching, and work-order administration. The Service Manager provides technical leadership, establishes priorities, supports field technicians, manages customer relationships, and remains accountable for department performance and profitability. Key Responsibilities • Manage commercial electrical service work from initial request through completion and billing., • Conduct site visits to evaluate electrical and lighting issues., • Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, scopes of work, and project pricing., • Manage multiple service calls and small electrical projects simultaneously., • Establish priorities and provide direction to the Service Coordinator regarding scheduling and dispatch., • Assign work based on technician qualifications, customer commitments, equipment needs, and urgency., • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field technicians., • Ensure technicians have the materials, equipment, information, and instructions needed to complete assigned work., • Review field reports, labor hours, material usage, photographs, and job documentation., • Prepare and manage change orders and ensure additional work is properly documented and approved., • Monitor labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs., • Maintain accountability for job profitability, productivity, and gross margin., • Review completed work orders and move jobs through billing promptly., • Address customer concerns, callbacks, warranty issues, and quality concerns., • Maintain an active backlog and ensure work continues progressing., • Recruit, train, coach, evaluate, and hold service technicians accountable., • Enforce company safety, workmanship, documentation, and customer-service standards., • Build relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities for additional service work., • Work closely with Accounting, Fleet, Safety, Purchasing, Human Resources, and company leadership. Type of Work This position focuses on commercial electrical service and maintenance, including: • Shopping centers and retail properties, • Office and commercial buildings, • Warehouses and industrial facilities, • Property-management portfolios, • Parking lots and exterior lighting, • Electrical troubleshooting and repair, • Preventive and corrective maintenance, • Lighting controls and LED upgrades, • Small commercial electrical projects, • Municipal and institutional facilities This position is not primarily focused on residential work, large-scale new construction, traffic signals, roadway-lighting contracts, or sports-lighting projects. Required Qualifications • Minimum of five years of commercial electrical service experience., • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical and lighting systems, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance., • Experience preparing estimates, proposals, scopes of work, or project budgets., • Experience managing multiple service jobs or small projects simultaneously., • Ability to read electrical drawings, specifications, and one-line diagrams., • Strong customer communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to supervise technicians and maintain clear performance expectations., • Strong organizational, follow-up, and time-management skills., • Ability to prioritize emergency service calls while maintaining scheduled work., • Comfortable using computers, email, estimating software, field-service systems, and electronic documentation., • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications • Previous experience as an Electrical Service Manager, Project Manager, Estimator, Service Supervisor, or Senior Commercial Service Electrician., • Journeyman or Master Electrician license., • Experience managing job profitability and developing commercial customer relationships.
