CNC Team LeaderWolverhampton basedCirca £42000 + benefits We are recruiting an experienced CNC team leader to lead and supervisor a busy machine shop within a leading engineering company in Wolverhampton. ACNC Team Leaderisa hands-on supervisory role responsible for managing a machining cell or section to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are met.This is a key leadership role combining strong technical CNC expertise with people management, process optimisation, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Benefits and CNC team leader role package: • Upto 21ph basic, • Overtime premiums, • Leadership mentoring and training, • Weekly Pay, • Modern facility, • High end equipment, • Career development, • External training certification available, • 38 hour week, • Double day shift rotation 0600 / 1400 starts, • 28 days annual leave, • On site parking, • Canteen, • Pension Key Responsibilities of a CNC Team Leader: • Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of CNC operators and setters in daily operations., • Plan and coordinate workloads, machine schedules, and resource allocation to meet production targets., • Perform complex setups, prove-out programs, and operate Haas CNC machines (primarily VF-series mills) when required., • Oversee machining of aluminium extrusions including fixturing, tool selection, speeds/feeds optimisation for aluminium alloys., • Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to ensure parts meet tight tolerances., • Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, and program inefficiencies quickly to minimise downtime., • Maintain high standards of quality conduct first-off inspections, in-process checks, and final verification using precision measuring equipment., • Train and mentor team members in best practices for Haas controls (NGC), G-code editing, toolpath strategies, and safe operation., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives reduce cycle times, improve material utilisation, minimise scrap, and implement lean principles., • Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations, 5S standards, and company procedures., • Monitor machine maintenance schedules and report any issues to maintenance team., • Proven experience (5+ years) in CNC milling, with at least 23 years in a supervisory / team leader role., • Strong hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines (VF / VM series preferred)., • Solid background machining aluminium., • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring tools (verniers, tapes, rules)., • Good understanding of G-code programming, tool offsets, work offsets, and Haas NGC control interface., • Experience optimising feeds, speeds, and tooling for aluminium to achieve high surface finish and efficiency., • Excellent leadership and communication skills ability to coach, performance manage and build a positive team culture., • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail., • Experience with CAD/CAM software for program review/editing, • Knowledge of work holding solutions for extrusions (vacuum tables, custom fixtures, modular clamping)., • Previous exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement projects.If interested, apply today and an initial response will be available within 24 hours.
