Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation across the facility. The Maintenance Technician works with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, supports preventive maintenance activities, and contributes to continuous improvement through root cause analysis and training of others. Responsibilities • Order parts required for equipment rebuilds and corrective maintenance activities in a timely and accurate manner., • Operate all production equipment in the assigned area to support troubleshooting, testing, and efficient operation., • Read and interpret simple mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams to diagnose and repair equipment issues., • Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment in the assigned area, including production line components., • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase electrical components and control voltage problems to restore safe and reliable operation., • Perform stick, MIG, or TIG welding on small repairs to equipment to prevent extended downtime until permanent repairs can be completed., • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on assigned equipment independently and without supervision, following established procedures., • Use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP proficiently to document work, maintain records, and support maintenance planning and reporting., • Assist in training Maintenance Mechanic I team members and Operators on proper equipment operation, basic maintenance, and safety procedures., • Lead root cause analysis activities where applicable to identify underlying issues and implement long-term corrective actions., • Work with plant equipment such as fillers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, conveyors, check weighers, x-rays, Axors and auxiliary equipment, dryers, flour tower feeding systems, and cheese pouch filling systems to ensure efficient runs and sustained operation., • Perform millwright activities including assembly, disassembly, alignment, and repair of equipment components., • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components to verify functionality and identify faults., • Follow all safety policies and practices, proactively identify safety hazards and risks, and take appropriate corrective actions., • Complete all other duties as assigned to support maintenance and production goals.Essential Skills, • At least one year of experience at Maintenance Mechanic Level I, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role; alternatively, at least 2 years of maintenance experience plus a technical Associate’s degree or equivalent., • Successful completion of a Level II assessment evaluating the ability to troubleshoot, run equipment, perform millwright activities, and assemble and repair equipment., • Demonstrated ability to understand the basic theory of operation for plant equipment and to repair, troubleshoot, and make effective adjustments for efficient and sustained operation., • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment in a production environment., • Ability to troubleshoot and repair 3-phase electrical components and control voltage issues safely and effectively., • Ability to read and understand simple mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams., • Proficiency in troubleshooting using schematics for mechanical and electrical systems., • Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair., • Knowledge of PLC functionality and how it relates to equipment operation and troubleshooting., • Ability to test electrical and electronic equipment and components using appropriate tools and methods., • Proficient use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP for maintenance documentation and reporting., • Ability to perform stick, MIG, or TIG welding for small equipment repairs., • Ability to perform preventive maintenance independently with no supervision required., • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Technical Associate’s degree or equivalent training in a related field is preferred when combined with at least 2 years of maintenance experience., • Experience working with production line equipment such as fillers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, conveyors, check weighers, x-rays, Axors and auxiliary equipment, dryers, flour tower feeding systems, and cheese pouch filling systems., • Experience leading root cause analysis activities to drive continuous improvement., • Experience training or mentoring maintenance personnel and equipment operators., • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues., • Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced production environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a shift premium provided for working this afternoon shift. Overtime is only mandatory on preventive maintenance days, with additional overtime offered on an optional basis when available. The role is based in a production facility that operates a variety of food manufacturing equipment, including fillers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, conveyors, check weighers, x-rays, Axors and auxiliary equipment, dryers, flour tower feeding systems, and cheese pouch filling systems. You will regularly work around mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and use tools and technologies such as PLC-controlled equipment, welding equipment, and computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP.
