To enable a 24/7, follow-the-sun business, our Legal and Compliance function must be simple, fast, and dependable. This India-based role strengthens our ability to review, draft, and organize core commercial documents—NDAs, contracts, amendments, and basic corporate records—so Sales can move quickly and deals close securely. Under the guidance of the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer (within Finance), you will learn our playbooks, apply common-sense judgment, and bring meticulous quality control to every document. You’ll also modernize how we practice law by improving processes and tools (Excel, Jira, Salesforce) and piloting AI-assisted workflows that accelerate review cycles and reduce friction for customers and internal teams. Role Summary Location: Chennai, India (hybrid). Department: Finance. Reporting to: General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer. Focus: contract/commercial/corporate support with exposure to M&A activities as needed; regular collaboration with Sales and direct interaction with customers. This is not a practicing-lawyer role; it is a high-ownership operational legal role for a detail-oriented, tech-curious professional. What You’ll Accomplish – Your Performance Objectives Within your first 30 days, you will get up to speed and start contributing: • Onboarding & Familiarization: learn our culture, policies, legal playbooks, approval paths, and deal philosophy (speed + protection)., • Systems Access & Training: obtain access to repositories and tooling (Excel, Jira, Salesforce); learn naming, versioning, routing, and signature standards., • Templates & Style: study core NDA and contract templates; learn redline etiquette, clause libraries, and fallback positions., • Initial Document Handling: draft and review standard NDAs under supervision; execute basic amendments; log and track status in Jira/Salesforce., • Corporate Records Basics: understand checklists for resolutions, director/secretary certificates, and India filings (MCA/ROC); learn coordination with external counsel for other jurisdictions., • Quality Control Habits: apply checklists for dates, parties, definitions, exhibits, signatures, and approvals before circulation., • AI Orientation: complete training on approved AI tools; practice safe prompts; identify two manual tasks suitable for AI-assisted automation., • Advanced Document Support: independently manage standard NDAs, order forms, partner agreements, vendor MSAs/SOWs, and routine amendments; escalate non-standard issues promptly., • Workflow Ownership: triage intake across time zones; maintain SLAs; build dashboards in Jira/Excel to surface bottlenecks and cycle times; keep stakeholders updated., • Corporate Hygiene: maintain organized corporate records; coordinate board/resolution packages; support routine filings in India (MCA/ROC) and assist external counsel abroad., • Sales Collaboration: participate in deal stand-ups; prepare document packs; translate commercial asks into clean contract language with a practical risk posture., • M&A Exposure: assist diligence trackers, document schedules, signature packages, and closing checklists., • Process & Tooling Improvements: implement small automations (templates, macros, Jira workflows) and contribute knowledge-base articles., • AI Adoption: pilot at least one AI-assisted workflow (e.g., clause comparison, summary, checklist pre-fill); measure impact and share learnings., • Client Interaction: handle routine client queries on document logistics and status, partnering with Sales to keep timelines on track. (or equivalent) or Diploma/Certificate in Paralegal/Corporate Compliance preferred., • Experience: ~3–5 years in contract or corporate documentation across NDAs, standard commercial agreements, amendments, and basic corporate records. Strong interns/associates with fewer years, but exceptional capability will be considered., • Exposure: Work with U.S. or multinational companies is a plus, not a must., • Language: Fluent English (spoken and written). Additional Indian languages are a plus., • Tools: Proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams; familiarity with Jira and Salesforce is advantageous., • Document Skills: drafting/review of standard NDAs and routine contract language using templates and clause libraries; strong redlining discipline., • Corporate Basics: understanding of board and shareholder resolutions, director/secretary certificates, and India filings (MCA/ROC). Training provided for company-specific practices., • Quality Control: rigorous attention to detail; checklist-driven reviews; organized file handling and tracking., • AI Readiness: curiosity and responsibility in using approved AI tools to improve quality and speed. The role sits within Finance and reports directly to the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer.
