At Franco Manca, great pizza starts with great people. For over 15 years we've been making slow-risen sourdough pizza the way it should be: simple ingredients, proper craft and restaurants that feel part of their neighbourhood. We're not a People team sitting far away from the action. We're close to our restaurants, our managers and our teams, and this role is right at the heart of that. Why Franco Manca? We're proud of where we've come from and excited about where we're going. This is an opportunity to join a business with real heritage that's investing in its people, its restaurants and its future. You'll have the chance to influence how we support our teams, work closely with senior leaders and make a genuine impact across the business. You'll also have space to keep growing yourself, with opportunities to get involved in people projects, leadership development, coaching and wider business initiatives as we continue to evolve. We're looking for a People Partner to work alongside our Operations Managers, helping our restaurant teams thrive. You'll build trusted relationships, coach leaders, support managers through the moments that matter and help create an environment where people can do their best work. This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety and influence. One day you could be supporting a manager through a complex people matter, the next you'll be using insight to spot trends, shaping practical people plans or helping us develop future leaders. If you enjoy working closely with people, balancing commercial thinking with empathy and making a real difference across a multi-site business, we'd love to hear from you. You'll love this role if · You like being close to the business and out with managers, not hidden behind a desk. · You enjoy coaching leaders, solving problems practically and seeing the difference your work makes. · You want exposure to senior leaders, people strategy and projects that shape how our teams grow. What you'll be doing • Partner with Managers to support our restaurants and people., • Coach and develop managers to build confident, capable teams. · Lead a wide range of employee relations cases with confidence, fairness, consistency and sound judgement. • Use people insight and data to spot trends and improve the employee experience. · Bring strong attention to detail to employee relations, people processes, documentation and follow-up, making sure advice is accurate, consistent and well managed. • Support talent development, succession planning and leadership capability., • Help shape practical people initiatives that support our restaurants today and as we continue to grow., • Work closely with the wider People team to keep things simple, consistent and people focused. We're looking for someone who • Has HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor experience in hospitality, retail or another fast-paced customer facing multi-site business. · Has strong employee relations knowledge, including confidence managing complex cases and a solid understanding of UK employment law. · Is CIPD qualified or working towards qualification; however, practical, commercial HR experience and strong judgement are just as important. • Builds trust quickly and enjoys coaching and supporting managers., • Brings a practical, solutions-focused approach. · Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in getting the important things right, especially when handling sensitive people matters. • Understands that every conversation matters., • Loves working with people as much as processes., • Wants to help create workplaces where everyone feels welcome and supported. Our values in this role · Welcome Everybody: You create a safe, inclusive and respectful environment where managers and teams feel listened to, supported and treated fairly. · Love Your Food: You care about the details that make Franco Manca special and help managers build teams who are proud of the food, service and experience they deliver. · Keep It Moving: You work with pace, clarity and common sense, helping managers resolve people matters quickly, fairly and practically. · Put On a Great Show: You understand that great people experiences lead to great restaurant experiences, and you help managers create teams who deliver warm, genuine hospitality every day. What you'll get · Up to £60,000 per year · Annual discretionary bonus scheme · 25 days holiday plus bank holidays · Salary sacrifice schemes, including pension, Cycle to Work and EV car scheme · Season ticket loan · Medicash health cash plan, including dental, glasses, physiotherapy and more · 24/7 virtual GP access, confidential counselling and advice on wellbeing, money, legal and personal matters · Free pizzas and soft drinks on every shift, plus free sourdough bread to cook at home · 50% staff discount when dining in any Franco Manca restaurant · Cashback, online discounts, discounted shopping vouchers, gym and fitness discounts, cinema tickets, family days out and exclusive hospitality perks · Annual social events, incentives and competitions · Up to £500 employee referral scheme, subject to terms and conditions · Development opportunities to support your growth and progression If this sounds like the kind of People Partner role where you could do your best work, we'd love to hear from you. Barista / Shop Supervisor
    4 days ago
    £25000–£32000 yearly
    Full-time
    Fenchurch, City of London

Why this job exists Italy gave the world its most loved cuisine and has never built a global fast food brand out of it. Every other big category has a winner. The Italian seat is empty. We are going after it. al volo is one shop in the City of London, cooking the full Italian table from scratch every morning: a hot main, two sides, focaccia to finish. That is the Nonna's Box. We are 4.9 stars on Google and 4.9 on Deliveroo, and we have never spent a penny on advertising to get there. The food did that. We need someone to run the shop properly, so we can get on with building the rest of it. The honest version We are small. Two founders, one site, a kitchen and a counter. Ale runs the food. Elena runs the brand and the commercial side. There is no head office, no HR department, and nobody else to hand a problem to. This seat has just come free. Rather than look for someone to fill the same shoes, we sat down and worked out what the business actually needs. This is that job, and it is a bigger one. Some days here are messy. Things change. You will get real responsibility far faster than you would anywhere else, and nobody is going to hold your hand through it. That is the deal. We think it is a good one. What you will own The opening. You are first in. You unlock, you set up, you get the machines on and the counter ready before the first customer walks in at 7. The kitchen team join you around 8. The morning is yours. Breakfast. We are launching a proper Italian breakfast in September: pick your base, pick your toppings, low prep, fast. You will set it up, run it, watch what sells and tell us what to change. It is a brand new revenue line and you are the one building it. The coffee. You are on the machine through the morning. Italian espresso standards, at speed, with a smile for the regulars. The lunch rush. From 11:30 you lead the floor: counter flow, queue moving, display full and looking right, Deliveroo out on time, everyone in the right place. The shop. Rotas, stock, standards, compliance. Temperature logs, cleaning records, allergens, food safety. Not glamorous. Completely non-negotiable. Yours. Real budgets. Coffee and bar, packaging, waste, and in time your own front-of-house hours. We will teach you how all of it works. Then we will expect you to have opinions about it. The shop when we are not in it. Decisions get made. Problems get solved. Nothing sits waiting for a founder to come back. Your first 90 days Month one. Learn the shop properly: behind the counter, on the machine, on the floor. Get to know the team and the regulars. Set the baselines on the numbers you are about to own. Month two. Launch breakfast with us. Take the bar, packaging and consumables budgets. Month three. Take the front-of-house rota and the labour budget. Tell us the three things you want to change, and start changing them. Who we are looking for You have run a site, a floor or a shift somewhere busy, and you were good at it. You know your way around an espresso machine, properly. You are organised in a way other people can see. But mostly: you are the person who spots the thing that is wrong and fixes it before anyone asks. Who has ideas and says them out loud. Who wants to build something rather than just work somewhere. This job is not for you if: You want a job that stops the second the clock says so You need a manual, a policy and a manager to check it "That is not my job" is a sentence you have used recently You would rather be comfortable than be part of something It is for you if you want to look at something in three years and know you helped build it. You will need: Experience leading a team in hospitality, retail or food service Real barista skills. We are serious about coffee. Food safety knowledge and the discipline to keep records properly The right to work in the UK To be comfortable with numbers, rotas and a spreadsheet What you get £30,000 a year, salaried, plus a discretionary bonus Monday to Friday. We are closed at weekends. That said, we are a young business, and now and then something will need doing that does not fit neatly inside a week. We are looking for someone who is there when it counts. 28 days holiday including bank holidays Lunch on us every day, and all the coffee you can drink Level 3 Food Safety and First Aid, funded by us if you do not already have them Room to grow as we do. The ambition is a second site, and then more after that. We would far rather grow the people already here than hire over them. Run this shop well and you will be in the room for whatever comes next, whether that turns out to be the next site or the office side of the business. Thanks Alessandro & Elena Founders, al volo

    £13.5–£16.5 hourly
    Part-time
    London

Residential Childcare Worker (EBD experience essential) Ofsted-registered children's homes, London & Southeast SureShift is looking for experienced, reliable residential childcare workers to join our team, placed into Ofsted-regulated children's homes across London and the Southeast. This role requires genuine professional experience in a children's residential care setting, specifically supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This means paid work in a registered children's home, secure unit, or comparable setting, where you've worked to a care plan, handled behaviour management or de-escalation, and worked as part of a shift team. It does not include babysitting, nannying, au pair work, playgroup or nursery assistant roles, or being a parent or family carer. If your experience is in one of these areas, this isn't the right role for you, but we'd encourage you to gain setting-based experience first and apply once you have it. However, we will consider if you can prove knowledge in this sector. You'll need: • At least six months' experience in a children's residential setting, with direct EBD exposure, • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be happy to get one sorted), • The right to work in the UK, • A current safeguarding certificate When you apply, please tell us the name of the setting(s) where you gained this experience and roughly when. This helps us move you through faster. On shift, the home's own team leads the way, your job is to support brilliantly within their care plan, not to run things. In return, you get direct PAYE employment (no umbrella companies, no self-employed risk), pay starting at £13.50/hr and rising to £16.50/hr through our transparent Points System (reliability earns you more, not just time served), emergency cover shifts at £18/hr, and a real person to call when something goes wrong, not a call centre. Shifts are flexible, days, nights and weekends, book in around your own life, with no fixed weekly hours. If you take pride in being the person a home can count on, and you've already got the EBD experience behind you, we'd love to hear from you.
