JOB DESCRIPTION: Technical Sales Representative, Area Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Territory Sales Manager, Field Sales Engineer, Metrology Sales Engineer As our Technical Sales Representative, you’ll manage a Midlands territory made up of existing customers and new business opportunities across engineering and manufacturing environments. You’ll spend your time visiting customer sites, understanding measurement and inspection challenges, and recommending the most appropriate products, systems and services. This is a consultative field sales role where relationship building, technical credibility and commercial awareness all matter. You’ll engage with quality managers, production leaders, engineers, manufacturing teams and buyers, helping them identify the right measurement solution for their application while ensuring a high standard of customer support throughout the sales process. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * As our Technical Sales Representative, you will: * Manage and grow an established customer base across the Midlands region * Identify, develop and qualify new business opportunities within engineering and manufacturing accounts * Visit existing and prospective customers to understand their applications, challenges and measurement requirements * Recommend suitable metrology and inspection solutions based on customer needs * Build strong long-term customer relationships across your territory * Prepare quotations, negotiate commercially and convert opportunities into sales * Work closely with internal technical specialists and support teams on projects and applications * Support customer demonstrations, exhibitions, product showcases and marketing events when required * Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity records using CRM and internal systems * Respond promptly to customer enquiries around pricing, lead times, delivery and general support * Liaise with internal departments including technical, service, operations and finance to keep projects moving smoothly PERSON SPECIFICATION: You’ll be a proactive, well organised and commercially minded sales professional who is comfortable working independently in the field. You’ll enjoy being in front of customers, building trust over time and understanding technical applications in enough depth to speak credibly and guide decision-making. You do not need to come directly from metrology to be successful, but you should have experience in technical or field-based sales within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial setting. What matters most is your ability to understand customer requirements, communicate clearly, manage your territory effectively and sell solutions rather than just products. We are particularly interested in candidates who have: * Experience in technical sales, field sales or territory sales within engineering, manufacturing or metrology * A consultative sales style and the ability to understand customer applications * Strong relationship-building and account management skills * Confidence presenting technical products or solutions to customers * Experience generating and following up new business opportunities * Good commercial awareness, including quotation handling and negotiation The role includes regular travel THE COMPANY: Our client is a globally recognised leader in precision measurement and metrology solutions.
