Job Description About the Role The Internal Corporate Counsel provides dedicated legal support for an assigned partner company, managing the day-to-day legal matters that arise in a fast-paced residential home services business. You will own the full lifecycle of routine legal workstreams including compliance, collections, demand letters, small claims, and general liability insurance claims, serving as the primary internal legal resource for the company's leadership and operations teams. This is a role for someone who is highly organized, independently driven, and comfortable managing a broad range of legal matters with limited oversight. Key Responsibilities • Small Claims and Demand Letter Management: Draft, review, and manage demand letters and small claims filings on behalf of the company. Track active matters from initiation through resolution and coordinate with outside counsel when escalation is required., • Customer Non-Payment Collections: Own the legal workstream for customer non-payment matters, including drafting collection correspondence, managing the escalation process, and pursuing formal legal action where appropriate., • General Liability Insurance Claims: Manage general liability insurance claims from intake through resolution, including coordinating with insurance carriers, gathering and organizing supporting documentation, and ensuring the company's interests are protected throughout the claims process., • Compliance: Monitor the company's adherence to applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Support regulatory filings, maintain policy documentation, and ensure operational practices remain compliant as the business evolves., • Contract Review and Support: Review and provide initial markup on routine vendor contracts, customer agreements, and other commercial documents, escalating complex matters to outside counsel as appropriate., • Legal Administration: Maintain organized records of all active legal matters, claims, demand letters, and correspondence. Build and manage tracking systems that give company leadership real-time visibility into legal exposure and matter status., • Outside Counsel Coordination: Coordinate with outside counsel on matters requiring external legal support, managing information flow, scheduling, and documentation to keep matters moving efficiently., • J.D. required and successful completion of Pennsylvania bar exam, • 3+ years of experience in a paralegal, legal operations, or junior in-house counsel role, • Demonstrated experience handling small claims, demand letters, collections matters, or insurance claims in a business context, • Strong drafting skills with the ability to produce clear, professional legal correspondence independently, • Highly organized with the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent matters without losing track of details or deadlines, • Comfortable working with limited direct supervision in a fast-paced operational environment You are a clear communicator who puts employees and partners first, a creative problem-solver who doesn't let things linger, and someone who moves fast without cutting corners. By day 60, you will be managing your core workstreams independently, handling demand letters, collections matters, and insurance claims with minimal oversight and maintaining organized tracking across all active matters. By day 90, you are the trusted internal legal resource for the company, resolving routine matters efficiently, keeping leadership informed on legal exposure, and flagging issues that require escalation after they become problems.
